Paola Severino is the founding partner of the Firm. Admitted to practice before the Court of Cassation, she has extensive experience in providing in and out-of-court assistance in favor of associations, entities and groups of different kinds, companies and individuals in the areas of business criminal law (corporate, financial, economic, tax and bankruptcy crimes), crimes against the public administration, environmental criminal law, criminal labor law, international criminal law and cybercrimes; in relation to crimes against the State, public order, public safety and property; in the fields of personal data protection, anti-money laundering, press offences (press-related defamation), as well as corporate criminal liability (Legislative Decree no. 231 of 2001).
Paola Severino is President of the Luiss School of Law and Professor Emeritus of Criminal Law at Luiss Guido Carli University, where she also holds the chair of the Cybersecurity.
She is former Vice-President, Rector, Deputy Rector, and Dean of the Department of Law at Luiss University.
Since September 24th 2021 she is President of the National School of Public Administration.
Since June 2022 she is member of the Scientific technical committee of the National Cybersecurity Authority.
Since July 2021 she is Co-President of the Scientific Committee and National Citizens’ Representative for Italy at the Conference on the Future of Europe.
Since May 2021 she is President of the Scientific Committee (Supervisory board) of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) at the Italian Ministry of University and Research.
Since 2019 she is Vice President of the International Association of Penal Law (AIDP) and since January 2015 she is President of the AIDP Italian group.
She was Minister of Justice, President of the “Observatory for the monitoring of the effects on the economy of the judicial reforms and for the assessment of the effectiveness of the reforms necessary for the growth of the Country” established at the Ministry of Justice, as well as member of a number of ministerial commissions on the reform of criminal law and procedural criminal law.
From January 2018 to December 2020, she was Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on Combating Corruption.
Furthermore, she was Vice President of the Superior Council of the Military Judiciary.
She was appointed by Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and by the President of the French Republic Macron member of the Italian-French Committee composed of six wise men for the drafting of the “Quirinale Treaty”.
She received prestigious national and international awards. She was awarded the titles of Knight of the Legion of Honor and of Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. Moreover, she received a PhD Honoris Causa in “Scienze delle Pubbliche Amministrazioni” from the University of Messina an Honorary Degree in Law (LLD) at the University of Glasgow.
She was a member of the editorial staff of the Enciclopedia Giuridica Treccani and of the journal “Banca, borsa e titoli di credito”. She is a member of the scientific committee of the journal “Archivio penale”, of the “Rivista della Guardia di Finanza”, of the “Rivista del diritto della navigazione”, of the journal “Sistema penale”, of the journal “The Future of Science and Ethics”, of the journal “Diritto dell’Internet” and of the journal “Notariato”. She is the President of the technical-scientific Committee of the journal “Rassegna dell’Arma dei Carabinieri”. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Journal “Diritto Penale Contemporaneo – Rivista Trimestrale”.
She participates as a speaker in numerous national and international conferences on criminal law, business criminal law, and cybersecurity.
